Hawk Rec Fest 26 – What a Day!

The Friends of Hawkenbury Recreation Ground would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Hawk Rec Fest on Sunday 28th June.

What a fantastic day it was! Sunshine, entertainment, laughter and lots of smiling faces – we couldn't have asked for a better celebration of our wonderful community.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came along, volunteered, performed, ran a stall, donated a prize or supported the event in any way. HawkRec Fest simply wouldn't happen without you.

We love our neighbourhood, and we love the green space that is Hawkenbury Recreation Ground. Seeing so many people enjoying the Rec together is a wonderful reminder of just how important this space is to our community.

Together, we raised over £700! ❤️

We're delighted to share that this year's Hawk Rec Fest raised more than £700 – all thanks to your generosity and support.

The money raised will help us:

• Replace the pads for the defibrillator at the Pavilion.

• Help renovate the small garden in the children's playground, where the wooden structure has become unsafe and the area overgrown.

• Give our Little Library some much-needed TLC after it suffered significant weather damage.

We've also received some fantastic ideas for future projects around the Rec. Some may require additional fundraising, and we'll share more about those ideas in due course.

Most importantly, this is community money, so we'd love to hear from you. If you have an idea for an improvement or project that could benefit everyone who uses the Rec, please let us know.

We hope our young winner of the “Name the Teddy” competition is enjoying life with Lulu!

And congratulations to the lucky winner of our wine tour and tasting for two, who correctly guessed that there were an impressive 466 corks in the container. We hope you have a fantastic time!

Keep an eye out for a Save the Date for Hawk Rec Fest 2027 – and, before then, perhaps even a community picnic in the Rec this September!
